Le grand Palais

Le Grand Palais shares the same beautiful Art Nouveau building as the Palais de la Découverte and lies just in front of the Petit Palais. It hosts Paris most prestigious temporary art exhibitions (such as the current Velazquez exhibition).

If you want to visit it make sure to buy your tickets in advance on the website, since there are usually very long waiting lines at the entrance. The Grand Palais organizes very interesting workshops related to the exhibition for kids aged 5-7 and 8-11, you can buy tickets in advance on their website and they will also permit you to skip the waiting line when arriving.

To reach the Grand Palais from Ivry, you can either take subway line 7 toward La Courneuve, change for line 1 in Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre toward La Défense, and get off in Champs-Élyséees-Clemenceau. Or, if the weather is nice, you can take RER B toward Paris and get off at Invalides, from here it's a lovely 10 min walk across the Seine via the beautiful Alexandre III bridge to the museum.
